This morning runners in  “The Giant Race” Half Marathon, 10K and 5K received a “delicious” surprise as they were high-fived and cheered on by Brian Wilson aka The Beard. (Click on each image above to enlarge.) The San Francisco Giants closer is on the disabled list with an inflamed elbow until August 31. Reports are he won’t be ready for action, even though he’ll be eligible to play.  (Notice the high fives are with his left hand!) The race through various of the usual San Francisco spots ends with the runners finishing the race literally by crossing home plate inside AT&T Park. Proceeds from Saturday’s race benefit Project Open Hand, which provides daily, dependable meal and nutrition services to people living with serious illnesses and to seniors in San Francisco and Alameda counties.
