Now that you watched the “imaginative” Colby Rasmus fangirl video, here are the deets on Colby return to Memphis on Sunday. Colby will be joined by two other former Memphis Redbirds and three St. Louis Cardinals alumni at AutoZone Park in Memphis for the annual Cardinals Caravan. Infielders Tyler Greene and Daniel Descalso, who played for the Redbirds in 2010, will be back in Memphis for the event along with former Redbird outfielder Rasmus and three St. Louis Cardinals alumni — utility player Rex Hudler and pitchers Jason Simontacchi and Danny Cox. Cardinals broadcaster Al Hrabosky also will join the caravan.
Greene endured a roller-coaster season in 2010, appearing in 82 games for Memphis and 44 for St. Louis. He batted .284 with 34 RBIs for the Redbirds while hitting .221 with 10 RBIs for the Cards. Descalso played in 116 games for the Redbirds last year, collecting 71 RBIs with a team-best 32 doubles. He also received his first call-up at the end of the season, batting .265 with six runs scored in 11 games as a Cardinal.
Rasmus spent most of 2008 with the Redbirds before playing the last two seasons with the Cardinals. Cox was a Cardinal from 1983-88 and Hudler spent 1990-92 in St. Louis. Simontacchi spilt his rookie season between Memphis and St. Louis while finishing ninth in Rookie of the Year voting.
